Biography

Dr. Fow-Sen Choa is a Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at UMBC. His lab pursues two primary research areas: brain and AI research — including neural circuitry mapping, EEG/fMRI brain imaging, and neuromodulation — and nano devices and optoelectronics, including mid-infrared lasers and photoacoustic sensing. The lab's core mission is developing non-invasive tools to activate or block targeted brain regions for treating neurological conditions including Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, ADHD, and autism.
