Biography

Dr. Jamie Tyler is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His work centers on developing noninvasive medical and consumer health devices and neuromodulation solutions for defense, security, and clinical applications.

His research spans cognitive and physical performance enhancement, mental health treatment approaches, and brain health commercialization — including ventures through a co-founded small business. His interdisciplinary background bridges behavioral neuroscience and engineering, with a focus on translating neurotechnology from the lab to real-world use.

Dr. Tyler earned his B.S. in Neuroscience and Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience from UAB, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuroscience at Harvard University.
