Biography

Dr. Jaydev P. Desai is a Professor and BME Distinguished Faculty Fellow in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he directs the Medical Robotics and Automation (RoboMed) Laboratory, the Georgia Center for Medical Robotics, and serves as Associate Director of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. His research spans image-guided surgical robotics, rehabilitation robotics, and cancer diagnosis at the micro-scale.

Desai received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania (1995, 1998) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. He is a Fellow of IEEE, ASME, and AIMBE, recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and multiple NIH R01 grants, and has over 160 publications.
