Biography
Jeffrey Kleim is an Associate Professor in the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering and the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. His research investigates how neural plasticity supports learning in the intact brain and relearning in the damaged or diseased brain.
His laboratory focuses on developing therapies to enhance recovery after stroke and Parkinson's Disease, examining motor cortex plasticity in both animal models and humans using intracortical microstimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation. This work aims to understand how motor training alters cortical organization and how those changes can be harnessed to restore function.
Dr. Kleim received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1997.
