Biography
Dr. Natalia Garcia Cervantes is a Research Professor in the School of Architecture, Art and Design at Tecnológico de Monterrey (Campus Monterrey). She holds a licenciate in Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa and both an M.S. and Ph.D. from The University of Manchester. Her doctoral research examined violence perceptions in Mexican cities using participatory methods including transect walks, auto-photography, and risk mapping. Her work applies an ecological framework to violence risk factors across multiple urban scales, with a particular focus on how residents' perceptions of insecurity must be incorporated into the design and implementation of urban interventions.
