Victor Meseguer

Assistant Professor

Physiology Department

Biography

Dr Meseguer was born in Murcia (Spain) in 1977. During his PhD worked in both the Instituto de Neurociencias de Alicante (Spain) and KULeuven (Belgium), where performed a study on the pharmacological and biophysical properties of the sensory TRP channels: TRPV1, TRPA1 and TRPM8.  Later, he did a posdoc stay in the University of California at Berkeley (USA) where he worked on visual restoration in mice by using opto-chemicals. Currently, as Assistant Professor and PI at Universidad Miguel Hernández- Instituto de Neurociencias (Spain), he aims at defining morphological corneal nerve plasticity along with optically controlling its activity by using opto-chemicals.

Research Interests

Peripheral sensory mechanisms involved in wetness detection, and their opto-pharmacological control.Plasticity and changes of ocular surface sensory nerves following injury, disease and ageing.
